Workshops
Therese Murray facilitates Wellness Workshops.
You will learn easy massage techniques that can be done in a
regular chair, in a fun and relaxed setting, or relaxation techniques
for work which include breathing exercises, stretching and
self-massage.
These workshops can easily be customized for your group
of friends, or a workplace Lunch & Learn session. Please

Workshops offered:
"Massage
Techniques to Combat Stress"
This workshop will teach
simple massage techniques, done through the clothing, with the
recipient sitting in a regular chair. Participants will learn
how to relieve muscle tension and reduce stress in the shoulders and
arms, using simple massage techniques. The participants will receive
instruction, see the demonstration, and then practice the techniques on
a partner. Participants may "bring a buddy" or be partnered up
in the workshop.
Most of the time is spent
doing actual hands-on massage, however a few minutes are spent at
the beginning of the class to cover basic "dos" and
"don’ts". How to make your partner feel comfortable, How to
practice proper hygiene, and When is it not appropriate to massage are
some of the topics covered.
Participants will receive
documentation, which will list topics discussed in the session, as well
as diagrams of the massage techniques.
Duration:
60-90 minutes
Number of
Participants: Up to 14 people. Even number of
participants is best but not required. Larger groups can be
accommodated at an additional cost.
Clothing:
Most workplace attire is suitable, however please avoid tops with hoods,
shoulder pads and lined jackets (jackets may be removed).
Room requirements:
one chair for each participant, tables moved out of the way,
approximately 400 square foot room (20’x20’).
Note: neck techniques may
be substituted for arm techniques, however this must be determined at
the time the workshop is reserved.
"Relaxation
Techniques at Work: Self Care Tips"
Workshop participants
will learn three simple techniques designed to reduce mental and
physical stress and tension, which can be done right at their desk: breathing
exercises, stretching, and self-massage.
During the session,
employees will learn simple breathing and visualization exercises to
help calm and reduce anxiety, plus help regulate blood pressure.
The workshop will teach
participants simple self-massage techniques for their shoulders, neck,
head, arms and hands. This will help relieve physical stress and
tension, prevent repetitive use injuries, headaches, and improve
attitude and well being.
Finally, gentle
"desk stretches" are taught.
Participants will receive
practical notes and diagrams of the breathing, self-massage techniques,
and stretches covered in the session.
Duration:
60-90 minutes
Number of Participants:
Up to 14 people. Larger groups can be accommodated at an
additional cost.
Clothing:
Most comfortable workplace attire is suitable.
Room requirements:
one chair for each participant, approximately 400 square foot room
(20’x20’).
Cost:
Each Lunch and Learn
Workshop is $300. If you schedule both Workshops for your
organization, you will only pay $500 ($250 each workshop). For
groups of 15-22 participants, an additional $75 fee is charged for a
Teaching Assistant (per Workshop).
